Wine Description

Domaine Agapé 's Riesling Limestone is a blend of several of the estate's parcels, mainly in the Jungholtz area of Ribeauvillé. Here, vines averaging 50 years of age sink their roots mid-slope into limestone-rich soil, giving the Riesling an extra intensity, while the East/South-East exposure guarantees gradual ripening of the grapes. AmongAlsace's white wines, this Riesling reveals an impressive nervousness of body and aromatic amplitude.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : AmongAlsace white wines, Domaine Agapé 's Limestone Riesling stands out for its skilful play of contrasts between tracing acidity and aromatic ripeness. Vincent Sipp 's ultra-exclusive cuvée seduces with the mineral imprint of its limestone terroir, which expresses itself without ever masking the fruit.

On the nose, delicate white flowers evoke honeysuckle and lily of the valley. Aromas of grapefruit, white peach and fresh flinty minerality add freshness and complexity.

On the palate, the wine is fine, driven by a lively acidity that reflects the limestone minerality of the terroir. Hints of candied lemon and white-fleshed fruit add a gourmet note without weighing the wine down. The finish lingers with persistent tension, signalling a wine that is both light and full of character.
