Brouilly 2018 | Beaujolais

The Brouilly of the Alex Foillard domain is the flagship cuvée of the estate. The vines come from the prestigious land of La Folie on the municipality ofOdenas. The Gamay it was planted more than 50 years ago on a soil composed mainly of granite.

Alex Foillard gives special attention to this cuvée, which is the leading cuvée in his field. The rearing is when to it substantially parallel to the Côte de Brouilly. That is a passage in barrels and then in concrete tank. The time spent in barrels and its proportion are a little more important than for the Côte de Brouilly.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Alex Foillard made a real feat by producing this Brouilly. The first time I had the chance to taste it i thought i was drinking the wine of a large winemaker on the side. It is a real success both in the quality of the fruit and in the breeding which is controlled at the perfection. The matter is intense, the wine fleshy and acidity well present. A wine already very expressive in youth but still under the elbow.

On the nose, notes of cherries, wild blackberries, licorice and a very vegetal tip nice it is subtle. One feels a small wild side at the opening that fades with a 2 hour carafage.

The mouth is fleshy, gourmet, an intense and bright fruit. There are nice fruity notes and sweet spices. The acidity is the spine of the wine and allows it to hold a nice freshness throughout the tasting.
