Wine Description
Agapé’s Pinot Gris Expression is an iconic and significant cuvée from the wine estate. The wines in the Expression range powerfully showcase the characteristics of the single grape variety from which they are made; they are vinified dry to preserve their characteristic freshness and crispness. The vineyards are located in Riquewihr and Ribeauvillé, on clay-limestone soils, and are cultivated according to the principles of organic farming. Domaine Agapé was founded in 2007 by Vincent Sipp, brother of Jacques of the renowned Domaine Sipp-Mack.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Agapé’s Pinot Gris Expression is a dry, food-friendly Pinot Gris with a beautiful balance between freshness and depth. The wine estate’s name, Agapé, means “unconditional love” in Greek, and this is evident in the way Vincent Sipp works with his grape varieties—not by forcing them, but by revealing their natural expression.
On the nose, aromas of white peach and apricot mingle with a very appetizing hint of smokiness. The clay-limestone terroirs of the Riquewihr and Ribeauvillé hillsides lend this cuvée a distinctive depth and intensity.
On the palate, this dry Pinot Gris is perfectly balanced and captures the essence of its terroir with liveliness and generosity: full-bodied, energized by lovely acidity, juicy orchard fruits, and refreshing varietal notes.
