Magnum Pinot Noir "T'as pas du Schiste ?" 2019 Catherine Riss | Alsace

Catherine Riss 's cuvée T'as pas du schiste? is a pinot noir from plots of blue schist. The vines are between 15 and 45 years old, and 50% of them are vinified in whole bunches. Maceration lasts around 18 days to extract substance and tannins, while preserving the wine's original freshness.

Aging takes place in old barrels for over 12 months, with no added sulfur.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Catherine Riss is a winemaker full of talent and character who shows her personality through her wines. T'as pas du schiste? is a pinot noir entirely in her image. A wine with an assertive style, a little austere at first, but extremely elegant and complex with a little aeration. For me, it's one of the finest successes of "natural" Pinot Noir , along with the wines of the Pierre Frick wine estate. A true masterpiece.

After a good two hours' oxygenation, the nose reveals scents of redcurrant, peony, rose petal and a touch of cocoa. We sense a feminine touch, very sensitive to the precision of the winemaking. A splendid first approach.

On the palate, the wine is fresh and bright. The tannins are fine and juicy. Notes of redcurrant and wild red fruit. A hint of minerality typical of the blue schist terroir adds refinement to the whole.
