Wine Description

Château Bel Air Marquis d'Aligre Margaux , also known as BAMA, located in Soussans in the Margaux commune, is an icon for lovers of atypical Bordeaux wines. Jean-Pierre Boyer, guardian of the spirit of the wine estate since 1950, perpetuates a unique traditional approach. Here, the wine is aged wood-free, in cement vats only, for three to seven years. This method preserves the purity of the fruit and the expression of the terroir, far from modern standards. The vineyard, largely made up of old, ungrafted vines, features the appellation's four main grape varieties: Merlot (35%), Cabernet Sauvignon (30%), Cabernet Franc (20%) and Petit Verdot (15%).

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Château Bel Air Marquis d'Aligre's Margaux at times evokes the finesse of the great Pomerols or even certain Burgundies, and is in keeping with an approach based on authenticity and respect for tradition. Ideal for lovers of delicate Margaux wines, we recommend decanting before tasting to reveal its full potential. Château Bel Air Marquis d'Aligre is distinguished by its finesse and authenticity, far from the concentration often associated with modern Margaux.

On the nose, the wine reveals complex aromas of fresh red fruits such as wild strawberry and cranberry, accompanied by delicate floral notes, mint and a hint of iodine.

On the palate, the wine is elegant, with vibrant acidity supporting flavors of black cherry and cassis. Fine, silky tannins impart a harmonious, velvety texture. The long, racy finish reveals a perfect balance between freshness and depth.
