Wine Description

Château de Béru's Chablis Clos de Béru is the jewel in the wine estate's crown. Its unique location gives the wines from this parcel exceptional power, roundness and minerality. This great Château de Béru cuvée comes from a 4-hectare monopole plot, entirely walled in and cultivated since the 12th century by Cistercian monks. Perched at an altitude of 250 metres, the Clos de Béru vineyard faces mainly south, on a geological fault that gives it its distinctive character.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Clos de Béru is carefully aged in 350- and 600-liter barrels for 24 months, with a low proportion of new wood (around 5%). Certified organic and biodynamic by Demeter, this cuvée is the fruit of respectful work with vines and terroir. Most of the vines were planted in the late 1980s on this predominantly limestone terroir. With a planting density of 6500 vines per hectare, rigorous pruning and green harvesting keep yields modest.

On the nose, the wine expresses itself perfectly, even in its youth. Beautiful floral notes and hints of citrus. The mineral imprint is clearly present, but does not overpower the rest.

On the palate, this Chablis surpasses all my expectations, its brilliance and precision giving the wine length and, above all, finesse. The beautiful mineral touch of the nose is complemented by magnificent hints of mirabelle plum and fresh pear.
