Wine Description

Like all the cuvées from this emblematic Bordeaux wine estate, Marie-Cécile du Château Le Puy pays homage to a member of the Amoreau family. Marie-Cécile Amoreau (1846-1925), wife of Barthélemy, was renowned for her talents as a cook, but above all she brilliantly took care of the vineyard work in the absence of her men, who had left for the front during the 1870 war. Made exclusively from Sémillon grapes, this Vin de France white is grown on clay-limestone and silica-clay soils that have always been cultivated biodynamically. Fermentation and ageing take place in experimented barrels, with dynamization according to the phases of the moon. With no added sulfites or oenological inputs, this wine is made in the spirit of the natural wines that make up the DNA of the wine estate, far from the effects of fashion. This low-intervention approach aims to preserve the natural expression of grape variety and terroir.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Château Le Puy 's cuvée Marie-Cécile is a far cry from the archetypal Bordeaux Semillon. No-input winemaking preserves the true identity of terroir and grape variety, with freshness, purity and generous aromas. Gastronomic character and immediate pleasure!

The nose expresses the delicacy of ripe pear, juicy nectarine and white flowers. The elegance of the bouquet is enhanced by a lovely mineral freshness.

On the palate, full-bodied, supple and voluptuous. The smoothness of the wine carries aromas of white fruit, acacia flower and jasmine, while the structure gradually tightens around a pure minerality. The finish concentrates this mineral tension and prolongs the tasting with delight.
