Wine Description

Château Le Puy 's cuvée Rose-Marie is named after Émilien's mother, Rose-Marie Amoreau (1634-1702), who in the late XVIIᵉ century was responsible for the day-to-day running of the family wine estate at a time when the property was almost completely self-sufficient, and already fully biodynamic. This exclusive cuvée, born on the rocky plateau of the Côtes de Francs, on the border of the great terroirs of Saint-Émilion and Pomerol. Made exclusively from Merlot grapes, this rosé is bled from a fermenting vat of Cuvée Barthélémy. This traditional method gives the wine a more vinous than recreational expression, designed for gastronomy. The old vines, which have always been cultivated biodynamically , are rooted in clay-limestone and silico-clay soils that favor balanced ripeness and a naturally fresh structure. After fermentation in experimental barrels with no added additives, the wine is aged for several months by dynamisation, with no added inputs or sulphur, before being bottled with respect for the natural expression of the fruit. Produced in very small quantities, Rose Marie occupies a special place in the Château Le Puy range, embodying a vision of rosé designed for the table, faithful to the history and spirit of the wine estate.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Château Le Puy 's Rose-Marie cuvée belongs to that very closed category of gourmet rosés, showing real structure without denying freshness. Produced under the Vin de France label in only a few thousand units, this exclusive cuvée aptly expresses the tension of the limestone plateau of the Côtes de Francs, while boasting a vinous style and fullness derived from the saignée technique, where winemaking in experimental barrels without any inputs enables the wine to retain a sincere expression of fruit.

On the nose, Cuvée Rose Marie opens with notes of crisp red berries and delicate floral nuances reminiscent of peony and honeysuckle. There's a slight reduction, very elegant and typical of low-intervention winemaking, which fades with aeration.

On the palate, this Vin de France rosé is fluid and juicy, marked by a lively freshness that stretches the material. Fine tannins structure the material with an almost saline relief. Flavors of red fruit stretch to a fine finish, with lingering hints of grenadine and licorice.
