Wine Description

The Domaine de Cambes cuvée is a Bordeaux wine from terroirs close to the Saint Emilion Grand Cru appellation. The blend comprises 60% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec. The wine is aged for 18 months in carefully selected oak barrels. It's this choice of barrels and toast that has made the Mitjavile family famous, but not only. In fact, they benefit from exceptional terroirs in the Bordeaux region, some of which only have generic appellations, as in this cuvée from Domaine de Cambes.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Over the years, François Mitjavile has become one of the most sought-after winemakers in the Bordeaux region. His masterful work in the vineyards ensures that his grapes ripen perfectly. The vineyards of Domaine de Cambes are a fine illustration of this. The siliceous soil on the banks of the Garonne ensures moderate irrigation and slow, precise ripening of the grapes.

His work in the cellar has earned him the title of "pope of Bordeaux winemaking", as his wines are undoubtedly the most perfectly balanced between woody notes and theauthentic expression of terroir.

On the nose, the wine reveals hints of black fruit. There are hints of black pepper and an attractive smokiness. The woody notes express themselves with intensity when young. After 5 to 10 years, they integrate perfectly into the wine.

The palate is incredibly delicate, with extremely silky tannins. There are lovely notes of black fruit, such as a touch of kirsch cherry. Or notes of plums and star anise. The finish is long, powerful and elegant. A complex , gourmet wine that richly deserves its place.
