Wine Description

The Morgon Côte du Py Javernières Aux Pierres from Domaine Louis-Claude Desvignes comes from Gamay vines that are over 90 years old . On a single 0.57-hectare plot nestled in the heart of the Côte du Py, the old vines—planted in 1931—thrive on soils composed of clay, schist, pyrite, and weathered igneous rock.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: The Morgon Côte du Py Javernières Aux Pierres from Domaine Louis-Claude Desvignes is the wine estate’s most refined and mineral-driven cuvée, yet it retains the balance that is the hallmark of the Desvignes family. With its crisp red fruit, complex spices, and hints of oyster shells, this wine is as harmonious as it is elegant.

The nose unfolds with notes of red and black berries, and upon aeration reveals a lush Gamay, marked by fragrances of violet and peppery hints.

The palate is deep, revealing a remarkable balance among its many layers of red and black fruits, spices, and smoky notes. The finish lingers with a lovely salinity, striking a balance between freshness and the concentration of the terroir.
