Wine Description
The Mâcon-Bussières Claude Seigneuret from Domaine de la Sarazinière is the wine estate’s most profound and accomplished cuvée, crafted from its oldest vines as a tribute to its heritage. This cuvée, a tribute to the wine estate’s founder, comes from four plots planted between 1926 and 1940 by Claude Seigneuret himself, on south-facing limestone and stony soils.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: The Mâcon-Bussières Claude Seigneuret from Domaine de la Sarazinière proves that the Mâconnais region has nothing to be ashamed of when compared to its northern neighbors. It is a wine of impressive depth and complexity, shaped by vines that have had time to reach deep into the limestone soils of Bussières. Philippe and Guillaume Trebignaud succeed in revealing the full complexity of these old vines in this cuvée—a vibrant tribute to their ancestor!
On the nose, aromas of peach, pear, and citrus unfold, accompanied by slightly toasty notes from perfectly balanced oak aging. This bouquet is both generous and precise, round and creamy, with notes of baked apple, toasted hazelnuts, and pear blossoms, and a finish of spices and lemon verbena.
On the palate, it has a silky texture, with a concentrated core and plenty of freshness, remarkable balance, and a lovely, lingering finish.
