Wine Description
The Moulin à Vent "La Roche" by Thibault Liger Belair is a wine whose plots were planted between 1920 and 1945. These are very old vines. They are one of the most beautiful plots of the estate Thibault Liger Belair. They are located at the top of the hill Moulin à Vent about 30 meters from the mill where the pink granites touch. The peculiarity of this plot is the influence of the wind which drys the grapes and offers more freshness allowing a slower maturity. Livestock is quite different from cuvée Moulin à Vent The Old Vignes since it enjoys a passage in new oak barrels.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The Moulin à Vent "La Roche" is a wine that is somewhat austere in its youth even if it is endowed with a beautiful freshness. It is a wine that needs to be kept in cellar at least 3 to 4 years. For those who know how to be patient, 10 years is an optimal aging for this cuvée. Production is very low since it does not exceed 2500 bottles, it is a true nugget that deserves to be tasted blindly alongside great wines.
The nose is still a little closed, austere, but one feels a great potential by the finesse of his expression and also because aromatics are of great nobility. Notes of dried rose petals, black fruits, sweet spices are very subtle.
In the mouth, the attack may surprise the opening but for lovers of tannic and fleshy wines this is not a problem. For those who prefer them more silky and delicate, it is essential to wait for them so that the tannins can relax.
