Domaine du Pélican's Arbois en Barbi cuvée is a wine produced by the Marquis d'Angerville on one of the appellation's finest terroirs. This parcel faces due south, sheltered from the cool Jura winds. The En Barbi terroir is so rich in limestone that the soil appears to be white. This feature also contributes to the wine's minerality and longevity.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Arbois En Barbi is a pure Chardonnay whose vines belonged to Jacques Puffeney, one of the Jura's top names who sold his vines in 2014. The wine is aged with a fine combination of oak barrels, foudre and stainless steel vats to bring precision, gourmandise and depth. Thisis one of Jura's finest Chardonnays , which is not yet well known to the general public.
On the nose, the wine offers a vast palette of aromas. There are chalky notes, hints of ripe yellow fruit, toast, lemon, star anise and even a hint of curry.
On the palate, the expression is as fine and intense as ever. The minerality creates a vertical structure that brings freshness and great digestibility. The wine's complexity will only increase with age. A wine that has already fulfilled all its promises and has a bright future ahead of it.
