Wine Description

Domaine Thillardon's Chénas "Les Carrières" is a singular cuvée from a unique terroir located on a former alluvial quarry in the commune of La Chapelle-de-Guinchay, near Saint-Amour. This parcel benefits from a south-facing exposure and a soil rich in flint, pebbles and alluvium, giving the wine great minerality and remarkable aromatic complexity.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The vines of the Les Carrières cuvée are cultivated according to biodynamic principles, with a profound respect for the environment. The wine estate fosters a rich biodiversity and maintains natural practices. The grapes are harvested as whole bunches, then undergo carbonic maceration in concrete vats and combined ageing in neutral oak barrels and concrete vats. This process brings out the elegance of the Gamay grape while preserving remarkable freshness and purity.

This Chénas reveals a complex nose, blending aromas of ripe red fruits such as raspberry and cherry, delicate floral notes and a mineral touch of flint characteristic of the terroir.

The palate is elegant and silky, with fine tannins, well-integrated acidity and a long, slightly spicy finish. The wine gains in depth and harmony after one or two years of cellaring.
