Wine Description

Domaine Thillardon 's Cuvée Georges embodies a contemporary audacity in the world of Beaujolais, revealing the finesse that a white grape variety can achieve on noble granite. In Chénas, on well-exposed slopes of friable granite , the wine estate cultivates a vibrant Chardonnay, supported by a temperate climate with continental influences. Winemaking is natural, with no added sulfites, and ageing in barrels for 20 months gives this wine great complexity and exceptional depth.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Cuvée Georges exudes the elegance of a great white Beaujolais. Straightforward, charming and precise, this wine naturally ranks among the finest expressions of Domaine Thillardon, alternating between power and freshness. A white Beaujolais of great class, expressing the full potential of its terroir, and easily rivaling some of Burgundy's finest wines.

On the nose, Cuvée Georges reveals a delicate combination of white-fleshed fruit reminiscent of pear and peach. Complex hints of candied citrus, white flowers and a touch of honey extend this elegant aromatic palette, while a fine hint of gunflint recalls the granite terroir in the background.

On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, rich and sustained by a marked saline tension that expresses the granitic minerality. The silky texture and controlled roundness of this wine are impregnated with delicious, charming aromas of exotic fruit, toasted almond and brioche. The vibrant, saline and persistent finish evokes all the potential of a great Beaujolais white.
