Wine Description

Domaine Élodie Roy 's Bourgogne Pinot Noir elegantly ranks among the most accessible Burgundy wines from this young wine estate, while already expressing great depth. It draws its material from vines averaging 65 years old, located on the edge of the Maranges terroirs, south of Beaune, where Pinot Noir finds a rare concentration. Carefully cultivated, the grapes are partially destemmed to combine pure fruit and density, then aged for 11 months in barrels, of which around 20% are new. Through these meticulous steps, Elodie Roy seeks above all to convey the identity of the terroir without artifice, with precision and generosity.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin :Elodie Roy 's Bourgogne Pinot Noir is much more than just a generic red Burgundy. The density of fruit and precision of texture are more reminiscent of a Maranges village, as this wine combines the elegance typical of Beaune with vibrant energy. Accessible now, but with a structure that will allow it to blossom for several more years, it represents a fine gateway into the world of Domaine Élodie Roy's Burgundy wines.

On the nose, the wine opens with pretty notes of red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry. Touches of star anise and accents of violet and rose petals elevate this initial olfactory approach, whose finesse is the hallmark of Elodie Roy's style, between precision and generosity.

The palate is full of energy, with a fine texture structured by silky tannins. Notes of blackcurrant, red berries and sweet spices mingle with beautiful floral notes. A hint of bitter cocoa delicately stretches the finish. The whole vibrates on the palate, conferring a fresh greediness that calls for a second sip.
