Wine Description

Domaine Élodie Roy 's Maranges En Buliet highlights the finesse of Chardonnay grown on the hillsides of Maranges, on the southern border of the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy. On a clay-limestone hillside terroir marked by altitude and freshness, the En Buliet parcel benefits from a privileged location that preserves the grape variety's natural balance. Taking over the family wine estate in 2018, Elodie Roy set out to breathe new life into this plot, seeking to reveal its purity and finesse. In the vineyard, the soils are worked without weedkillers, with respectful practices that promote biodiversity and limit yields. In the cellar, winemaking takes a low-interventionist approach: a third of the grapes are destemmed before pressing, and fermentation and ageing take place in French barrels with 30% new wood. After around 13 months, the wine is blended in stainless steel tanks, where it rests for a further month before bottling.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Domaine Élodie Roy 's Maranges En Buliet is a veritable signature cuvée in the Côte de Beaune landscape. Its aromatic precision and mineral freshness recall the signatures of the great terroirs of the Côte de Beaune, while retaining the assertive identity of Maranges. And what can we say aboutElodie Roy's style, inherited from her experience at Domaine Anne Gros, who brilliantly combines purity and energy in her Burgundy wines! A luminous bottle, perfectly illustrating the as yet unrecognized potential of Maranges terroirs in white, capable of delivering Chardonnay whites of unsuspected intensity and longevity.

The nose is immediately clear and precise. Ripe yellow fruit aromas are accompanied by delicate notes of acacia flower. A touch of minerality comes through on aeration, adding just the right amount of tension and depth.

On the palate, the supple, fresh texture reflects the mineral tension of the soil. Aromas of pear and yellow peach blossom over subtle floral nuances with surprising depth, while a creamy sensation coats the palate. The finish is saline and complex, leaving an elegant persistence on the taste buds, and an admirable balance between freshness, tension and ripeness.
