Wine Description

The François Lumpp wine estate, an emblematic figure in the Givry appellation, offers us an exceptional cuvée with its Givry Blanc "Teppe des Chenèves". This white wine made from Chardonnay grapes bears witness to the Lumpp family's unique know-how and the pure expression of its terroir. The "Teppe des Chenèves" parcel is located on the upper part of the hillside, north of the Givry finage, just above the Premier Cru Les Combes.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Facing south-east, this terroir benefits from optimal sunshine and very calcareous, stony, draining soils, giving the vines an ideal balance of richness and mineral tension. The land was once renowned for its vines, but was transformed into meadows before the Lumpp family decided to replant it in the early 2000s, bringing a forgotten terroir back to life.

On the nose, the wine reveals refined aromas of white fruits such as pear and Reine-Claude plum, combined with hints of melon and apricot. Honey and pastry notes follow, evoking beeswax and pain au lait, enhanced by sweet, exotic spices such as curry, colombo, juniper berry and paprika.

On the palate, the attack is dynamic and saline, bringing a lovely iodized freshness with accents of seaweed, samphire and sea salt. The mid-palate becomes smoother and greedier, revealing flavors of Liège waffle and warm vanilla milk. Fine lemony acidity and hints of green spice add structure and a long finish.
