Wine Description

Domaine François Lumpp 's Givry 1er Cru blanc Petit Marole is one of those exclusive crus that make a lasting impression. On the slopes of the Côte Chalonnaise, a micro-parcel of just 0.30 hectares of vines gives birth to this rare white. The Chardonnay draws its expression from this privileged terroir in southern Burgundy, whose limestone and fine marl soils and east-south-east exposure are conducive to deep rooting and slow, regular ripening. The vines are carefully tended and hand-picked to select only the finest grapes. Winemaking is natural, and the 12-month ageing in barrels, a third of which are new, accompanies the wine without altering its limpidity. Behind the discretion of the place lies a patient white, chiselled in detail and faithful to the rigor of Domaine François Lumpp.

Philippe Mischler sommelier at Mundovin : Domaine François Lumpp 's Givry 1er Cru blanc Petit Marole illustrates the more discreet side of this great Burgundy house. Its exclusive production makes it a sought-after wine for its precision and straightforwardness. This Givry 1er Cru blanc is a reminder of the wine estate's rigorous craftsmanship, where consistency and respect for balance never let technique take precedence over the authenticity of the terroir. A rare wine to have in your cellar!

On the nose, fresh citrus and white fruit aromas take over, accompanied by the vegetal freshness of acacia flower and lime blossom. As the wine evolves, delicate mineral and chalky notes emerge, with a formidable precision that blends perfectly with this delicate ensemble.

On the palate, the fluid, slightly oily texture is delicately voluminous thanks to ageing, counterbalanced by lively, chiselled tension. The harmony of the whole allows the fruity flesh of the Chardonnay to blossom without detracting from the finesse of the terroir. The wine's body stretches out on a saline finish that leaves a long mineral salivation on the taste buds.
