Wine Description

Domaine Henri et Gilles Buisson's Corton Renardes is a magnificent cuvée produced in very limited numbers. The vines are planted on east-facing Oxfordian clay-limestone soils in the heart of the Cortonhillside. These terroirs produce vertical, pure and generous wines. This Corton Renardes is closer to the profile of a Côte de Nuits in its density and depth.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The Corton Renardes cuvée from the Henri et Gilles Buisson wine estate is a wine that has not been destemmed at all, in order to retain all the power and tannic structure necessary to support the complexity of the terroir. It's a choice the Buisson family have made to maintain the right balance. The wine is then aged in oak barrels for 12 months, 50% of which are new.

On the nose, the wine opens with hints of blackcurrant, faded rose, Szechuan pepper, star anise and a hint of coriander berry. The more the wine is oxygenated, the more it offers an elegant , acidicprofile . A wonderful surprise for a terroir that is sometimes austere in its youth.

The palate is racy, powerful and fleshy thanks to the whole-bunch harvest. The ripe grape stalks retain their freshness. The dark world of the nose is repeated, with notes of black fruit and a touch of minerality that lengthens the wine.
