Saint-Romain Sous Roche rouge 2021 Henri et Gilles Buisson | Burgundy

Saint Romain Sous Roche from the Henri and Gilles Buisson wine estate is one of the magnificent wines made from vines planted in 1960 on clay-limestone terroir. The vines have been grown organically from the outset, and yield no more than 35hl per hectare. This specific terroir, situated at an altitude of 300m on the hillside facing the village, benefits from warm currents that caress the valley. This situation gives Saint-Romain Sous Roche a fresh, structured Pinot character.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The Saint Romain Sous Roche cuvée from the Henri and Gilles Buisson wine estate is a real jewel of fruit, a wine so full-bodied, juicy and fresh that you'd think you were in the Chambolle Musigny appellation. The other pleasant surprise is that all the wines from the wine estate taste perfectly young. But far be it from us to think that these wines can't be kept. The density and depth provided by whole-cluster winemaking allow these wines to age well.

On the nose, the wine reveals notes of raspberry, cranberry juice, morello cherry and a slight earthiness. Ageing in old barrels brings superb oxygenation to the wine, making this Burgundy perfectly accessible from the moment it opens.

The palate is just as beautiful as the nose, with notes of tart fruit and a hint of rusticity that adds length.
