Wine Description

Hubert Lamy 's Saint-Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly comes from one of Saint Aubin's major climates, renowned for its limestone bedrock that sculpts wines close to the spirit of Puligny-Montrachet's Grands Crus. The slope is underlain by thin, stony clay-limestone soils, where the predominance of limestone lends great finesse to the Chardonnay. On a 2-hectare plot, the high-density vines planted by Domaine Hubert Lamy in 1989 benefit from a south-south-east exposure. Regular tillage of the soil, controlled yields and exclusively hand harvested grapes complete the care practiced according to the principles oforganic farming. The grapes are then gently pressed before fermentation in barrels and demi-muids, where the wine remains to complete malolactic fermentation. Subsequent ageing lasts 12 to 18 months in experienced demi-muids, fine-tuning the wine's texture and revealing the grandeur of this Burgundy terroir.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Hubert Lamy 's Saint Aubin 1er Cru En Remilly belongs to that handful of climats whose expression is in the spirit of the great white wines of Puligny, with a limestone purity and depth that make it one of the benchmarks of the Saint Aubin finage. Its chiselled, long-lasting style naturally lends itself to ageing. A great white for the future, one of Domaine Hubert Lamy's most distinctive signatures.

On the nose, the wine is very seductive, revealing a bouquet with nuances of apple and white peach, toast, lime blossom and orange blossom. After decanting for two hours, notes of grapefruit and lemon emerge, bringing a lovely energy.

The palate is sensationally energetic, revealing ripe fruit that we enjoy for a long time. There are lovely floral and citrus notes as well as a mineral vibrancy that coats the palate with a long salivation. The balance between minerality and rich aromas of flowers, exotic fruit and spices is accompanied by great length, showing all the power and evolutionary potential of this great Saint Aubin 1er Cru.
