Wine Description

Domaine Jean-Claude Buecher's Crémant La Petite Sauvage is a pure Pinot Blanc from the Pfersigberg and Streingrubler Grands Crus parcels . The vines have an average age of 30 years and have been cultivated biodynamically for around 10 years. Franck Buecher has chosen to keep yields as low as possible, to increase the ageing time on laths, and to stop dosing his crémants altogether.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: This cuvée La Petite Sauvage is quite different from the other crémants in the range. First of all, it is aged in oak barrels before being put on laths, giving it a rich, full and complex profile. The 28 months spent on laths, with no dosage at disgorgement, give this wine remarkable freshness and finesse.

On the nose, the wine opens with magnificent hints of white fruit, an intense floral imprint, mentholated touches and a comforting brioche finish.

The palate is full and rich at first, then gives way to a magnificent, nervous minerality that brings a burst of freshness and purity. The bubbles are simply sublime, and should not be mistaken for a "simple" crémant, but as a great bubbly.
