JM Sélèque 's Solessence Rosé Extra-Brut follows in the footsteps of his iconic Solessence cuvée, whose blending principles and mosaic of seven terroirs spread between Pierry, Moussy, Épernay, Mardeuil, Dizy, Boursault and Vertus. On these clay-limestone soils with flinty calcites set against the chalk of the Champagne region, Jean Marc Sélèque crafts a rosé Champagne that is greedier and more floral than its twin cuvée, while retaining the tension and purity characteristic of the Extra Brut approach.

The core of the blend comprises 60% 2022 harvest and 40% perpetual reserve, before being shaped by two decisive contributions: 10% Pinot Meunier vinified in pellicular maceration, like a rosé de saignée, from the parcels La Loge (in Moussy) and Les Sourds (in Mardeuil), and 5% Pinot Noir red wine, produced on the 1er Cru parcel Les Brousses (in Pierry). The final balance is 45% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Meunier and 15% Pinot Noir. The 10-month winemaking process in stainless-steel vats and oak barrels precedes a two-year ageing period on laths and an Extra Brut dosage of 2 g/L.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : JM Sélèque 's Solessence Rosé Extra Brut captures the natural elegance of the fruit and the mineral tension of the house's terroirs. Jean Marc Sélèque 's philosophy of purity inspires a rosé Champagne that is both full-bodied and dynamic, appealing to lovers of terroir and authenticity. The right blend delivers a devilishly effective cuvée, between finesse and freshness, complexity and intensity, structure and depth. A great moment of pleasure and gastronomy!

The nose of JM Sélèque's Solessence Rosé Extra-Brut is as gourmand as it is refined, opening frankly with bright notes of red berries, rose and hawthorn. Fresh citrus zest mingles with herbaceous notes. Ageing on the lees brings a pastry-like richness with deliciously regressive accents of almond cream and lemon tart.

The lively effervescence gives a fresh attack on the palate, where the finesse of the bubbles delicately underlines the wine's structure. The wine reveals savory, juicy wild berries, complemented by evolved notes of almond cookie and a citrus aftertaste that lends a lovely tension. Far from the sugary clichés of Champagne rosé, the very moderate dosage of this Solessence Rosé Extra Brut cuvée brings out the mineral identity of its limestone terroir on a sapid finish with stunning length, in the pure, crystalline style of the Sélèque wine estate.
