Wine Description

Domaine de la Pousse d'Or's Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru comes from a parcel just above the famous Montrachet. Here, Chardonnay grapes flourish facing east at an altitude of almost 300 meters for the highest vines. Chevalier's characteristic terroir is made up of thin, stony soils, giving the juices the intense minerality sought after in this Grand Cru.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : What mind-blowing power! Rare are Chardonnays, even from the best exposures, to reveal such precise definition of terroir. There's no doubt, from the very first nose, this is Chevalier Montrachet.

On the nose, the wine reveals notes of buttery croissants, dried fruit, honey and lime blossom, as well as hints of fresh fruit such as white peach and citrus.

The palate is sublime. The mineral framework that underlies the whole is confirmed on tasting. The wine strikes a remarkable balance between depth, smoothness and tension. This is one of the world's great wines...
