Wine Description

Domaine de la Pousse d'Or's Volnay 1er cru Clos des 60 Ouvrées is a Monopole cuvée that the wine estate has owned since the 1950s. The vineyard is located on the finest parcel of the famous Volnay climat des Caillerets. There is a mix of vines over 70 years old and those under 35, resulting in deep, energetic wines.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The Pousse d'Or wine estate is fortunate to own one of the finest parcels in the Volnay appellation, namely the 60 Ouvrées. This is the densest premier cru and the one with the greatest ageing potential.

On the nose, the wine reveals a rather dark profile with notes of plum, blackcurrant and blueberry. After oxygenation, it reveals clove notes, a slight bloodiness and a hint of leather.

On the palate, there's a fine density expressed by sharp tannins and a full-bodied yet velvety texture. It's a pleasure to rediscover the aromas found on the nose, complemented by a fine salinity on the finish.
