Fleurie "Greta Carbo" 2020 Marc DELIENNE | Beaujolais

Marc Delienne 's Fleurie Greta Carbo is one of the flagship cuvées of this winemaker, who in just a few years has become one of the emblematic figures of the Beaujolais region. The Gamay vines, over sixty years old, are planted on sandy loam soils derived from granite in the south-east of Fleurie. Their deep roots lend a rare intensity to this renowned terroir. True to its organic and biodynamic philosophy, Domaine Marc Delienne harvests by hand, sorts its grapes with the utmost care and carries out exclusively natural winemaking. For this cuvée, the grapes are cooled to 5°C in a cold room, before being gently fermented in concrete tanks saturated with carbon dioxide and maintained at 8°C. Ageing lasts just 4 months in barrels of a few wines each, to preserve the purity of fruit and freshness of this red Beaujolais.

On the nose, fruit explodes with dazzling freshness: fresh redcurrant, tart cherry and violet intertwine with finesse. The immediate greediness of this bouquet is an irresistible invitation to taste!

The palate confirms the initial impression: the attack is satiny and precise, carried by a silky texture where the density of the fruit is balanced by a tonic acidity. The long finish unfolds with fresh cherries and redcurrants, persistent violet and iris blossoms, while a delicate minerality reminiscent of licorice imbues the whole with a rare finesse. A delicious, precise and sapid wine.
