Wine Description
Marc Kreydenweiss’s Kritt Pinot Blanc is considered one of the benchmark wines for this grape variety in Alsace, as its aromatic profile stands out for its richness and its ability to evolve in the glass. This cuvée comes from a single plot, facing south at an elevation of 200 meters, where the soil—rich in quartz and iron-rich clay—gives the wine a unique body and tension. The wine estate applies the same rigorous standards here as it does to its most renowned wines, using biodynamic viticulture that respects the natural balance of the soil.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Marc Kreydenweiss’s Kritt Pinot Blanc is produced with the same meticulous care as his most prestigious cuvées. This extended ageing on fine lees in large vats—a method he particularly favors—transforms a grape variety often perceived as simple into a wine of rare complexity, with a dense texture and highly expressive aromas.
The nose surprises with its fresh, vegetal notes—somewhere between cucumber and green apple—before revealing more aromatic hints of cilantro and verbena. A touch of citrus, reminiscent of clementine, and a hint of white pepper round out this bouquet, which is full of elegance and finesse.
On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and juicy, driven by an energy that livens the palate with vibrancy. Flavors of greengage plum, guava, and pineapple unfold, supported by light hints of fresh mint and dill, leading to a lively and flavorful finish that showcases the wine estate’s talent with this grape variety.
