Wine Description

The Grande Vallée Extra-Brut cuvée from Champagne R. Pouillon & Fils is a superb introduction to the house. Made from a blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier grapes, this cuvée is aged in oak barrels and foudres to give it a fine patina. It perfectly reflects Fabrice Pouillon's fine, gourmet style.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Fabrice Pouillon 's Champagnes are real favorites. They impressed me, especially the cuvée Grande Vallée for its marvelous aromatic expression: floral notes, a vinous side and a very enveloping mouthfeel. A cuvée that easily rivals the best Champagnes in the world.

On the nose, the wine opens with notes of acacia, pine nuts and honey. Hints of quince jelly, candied pear and dried fruit gradually emerge. The nose reveals a rare delicacy.

The palate is silky, unaggressive and well-balanced. The acidity is perfectly controlled, with hints of yellow fruit and almonds rounding off the superb honeyed finish.

With a talent like this, other winemakers have only themselves to blame!
