Wine Description

Domaine Rieffel's crémant L'Emprise is a blend of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Gris from Barr's Grand Cru Kirchberg. This cuvée is aged on laths for 4 years. This is one of the haute couture bubbles that will accompany the finest festive meals. Lucas Rieffel has truly created the very best in Alsatian bubbles.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Lucas Rieffel's crémant L'Emprise is the bubble of the moment. It's almost impossible not to give in to the temptation to have another glass, so elegant, gourmand and precise is this crémant. Its ageing on laths also gives it an extraordinary complexity.

The nose reveals aromas of lemon cake, chalk, exotic fruit and a hint of dried grass. The nose evolves as the tasting progresses, becoming more and more open.

On the palate, the texture is ample, the bubbles tonic and crystalline. The greediness of the nose comes through in the middle of the palate, giving it a very complex, deep edge. The finish is marked by pretty bitters and a fine salinity.
