Wine Description

The Roagna wine estate is an undisputed icon of Piedmont, its Barolo and Barbaresco wines among the most coveted in the world. The Barolo Pira cuvée is a superb example of the wine estate's commitment to tradition and the pure expression of Nebbiolo. The Pira terroir, located in Castiglione Falletto, is renowned for producing Barolo wines of great finesse and elegance. The limestone and marl soils add a distinctive minerality.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The Roagna wine estate is renowned for its traditional winemaking with fermentation in foudre vats and prolonged maceration. This process enables precise extraction of tannins and aromas. Barolo Pira from the Roagna wine estate is a wine par excellence for laying down. It will continue to evolve and refine for many years, developing ever greater complexity.

On the nose, it reveals a complex bouquet of aromas, combining notes of red fruit, dried roses, licorice and spices.

On the palate, this wine is characterized by its controlled power. The tannins are firm but velvety, supporting flavors of black cherry, truffle, tobacco and cinnamon. The minerality of the terroir comes through subtly, adding an extra dimension to the whole.
