Wine Description
The Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru Vers Cras from Domaine Robert-Denogent embodies the wine estate’s excellence in Pouilly-Fuissé. Grown on a 0.50-hectare plot on the sunny slopes of Fuissé and classified as a Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru since 2020, this wine comes from vines over 80 years old, rooted in deep limestone marl soils. The prime exposure and the nature of the soils give the wine remarkable minerality and exceptional aromatic depth. Domaine Robert Denogent prioritizes organic and biodynamic viticulture, with minimal intervention in the cellar to preserve the pure expression of the terroir. The wine is aged on fine lees for at least 24 months to refine the texture and concentrate the minerality.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Domaine Robert Denogent’s Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru Vers Cras is one of the wine estate’s most prestigious cuvées. Of rare elegance, it is characterized by its unique mineral tension, which makes it one of the region’s greatest white wines. Produced in limited quantities, it combines power and finesse and offers remarkable ageing potential. This wine will appeal to connoisseurs of great Pouilly-Fuissé wines seeking a unique experience. Its great delicacy requires a short period of aging to be enjoyed at its best.
The nose reveals a complex palette blending linden and acacia with bergamot and blood orange. The richness of honey rounds out the profile, lending it a promising, slightly spicy depth.
On the palate, it is full-bodied, ample, and supported by perfectly balanced acidity. The terroir is expressed with great precision, balancing the power of the marl with limestone minerality. Aromatic notes of white flowers, citrus, and honey linger on the finish, whose salinity gives this wine a length worthy of a great Pouilly-Fuissé 1er Cru.
