Wine Description
The Cahors Les Escures from the Mas del Périé wine estate is made from a very fine parcel of Malbec on clay-limestone soils. Fabien Jouves works to make this wine accessible from its youth, while retaining its ageing potential. Ageing was carried out in vats for 14 months to soften the tannins and give this Cahors a fruity character. A wine that epitomizes the style of the Mas del Périé wine estate and its management, which brings a breath of fresh air to Cahors wines.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Les Escures is Fabien Jouves' first Cahors cuvée. It's a wine that's greedy, powerful and racy right from the start. Mastery of winemaking and ageing has made it possible to tame the rustic side of Malbec in its youth. A natural wine mastered to perfection, in my opinion.
On the nose, black fruits such as blackcurrant and blackberry are intense. Notes of violets and cherry candy add freshness and deliciousness. On opening, there may be a hint of rusticity, which fades after a few minutes.
On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and ample, with plenty of tannin but already sufficiently supple for total pleasure. Hints of black fruit, clove and balsamic.
