Wine Description

The Riesling Grand Cru Schlossberg from the Weinbach wine estate comes from parcels located in the upper part of the Grand Cru Schlossberg, where the soils are shallower and the rock outcrops. This Grand Cru benefits from exceptional natural conditions: granitic rock with shallow sandy soils, a southerly aspect and a steep slope ensuring optimal sunshine. Schlossberg was the first terroir in Alsace to be classified as a Grand Cru.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Schlossberg is an extraordinary terroir for Riesling, which finds its best expression in light, sandy, mineral-rich soils. It gives this grape variety finesse and elegance. The grapes are pressed gently and slowly, in whole bunches. Aged for 14 months on fine lees in wooden tuns.

On the nose, the wine is subtle, revealing notes of white-fleshed fruit and a touch of beeswax with a beautiful minerality.

On the palate, the racy structure is enhanced by the terroir. The acidity of this Riesling is ripe and crystalline. It reveals a beautiful palette of floral aromas, finishing with purity.

A top-class Riesling, one of the region's greatest wines.
