Le Clos rosé 2025 Clos Venturi | Corsica

Clos Rosé from Clos Venturi is undoubtedly one of the most distinctive rosés produced in Corsica. Grown in a vineyard located at an altitude of over 400 meters on the heights of Ponte-Leccia, this wine is crafted from the estate’s most iconic granite terroirs, in an environment of maquis, rock, and high altitude. The Sciaccarellu plot, cultivated biodynamically with the utmost rigor, benefits from natural grass cover and manual soil cultivation. For this cuvée, the deliberate choice of a single grape variety allows the full finesse and aromatic elegance of this thin-skinned grape—perfectly suited to the high-altitude terroirs of Clos Venturi— to shine through. This makes it a true rarity among Corsican rosés!

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: The Clos rosé confirms the upward trend in quality that Clos Venturi has been pursuing for several years. With remarkable aromatic precision and a minimally interventionist winemaking process, this is not just a simple aperitif rosé. Rather, it is a structured, precise wine that possesses a gastronomic character rarely found in a rosé. It is so well-suited to the table that it is more reminiscent of a great white wine. After the grapes are hand-harvested, they are pressed immediately. This is followed by aging in demi-muids and stoneware jars, with no sulfur added at bottling, to preserve the Sciaccarellu’s vibrancy without masking its authenticity. One can sense the spirit of Clos Venturi, as well as the ambition of Jean-Marc and Emmanuel Venturi, in this pursuit of balance and noble tension.

On the nose, this cuvée reveals a delicate bouquet of wild strawberries, white melon, and citrus zest. Floral notes of dried rose and broom add a lovely finesse. With aeration, the wine reveals nuances of warm stone and white pepper.

On the palate, the attack is full-bodied and precise, carried by a lovely freshness. The Sciaccarellu is evident in the clean structure, underscored by a fluid yet deliciously structured body. The red fruit notes from the nose are extended by a slightly spicy and briny finish. The balance between the wine’s body and the natural tension of the high-altitude Corsican terroir results in a rosé with great length.
