1769 Rouge is one of Clos Venturi's signature cuvées, and a fitting embodiment of the qualitative revival of Corsican viticulture. The wine estate, founded in 1901 in the heart of the island, on the heights of Ponte-Leccia, benefits from exceptional conditions: a high altitude granite terroir, a contrasting climate and a biodynamic culture that has been certified for several years. This is the setting in which Clos Venturi was born, a rigorous plot selection in which each cuvée aims to express the pure identity of indigenous Mediterranean grape varieties. The result of meticulous work by Domaine Vico, and in particular a finely thought-out blend of Niellucciu, Sciaccarellu and Syrah, this cuvée stands out for its natural balance and aromatic frankness, and expresses the richness of Corsican grape varieties.

There's nothing flashy about it: it prefers subtlety, precision and consistency from start to finish. With every sip, you can feel the sure hand behind the work, and that rare ability to unite Corsican tradition with a modern outlook. Each grape variety plays a precise role: structure for Niellucciu, textural elegance for Sciaccarellu, and spicy depth for Syrah. The whole is vinified with care, using indigenous yeasts, without artifice, to let the terroir express itself fully. This is a bottle that belongs on a large table.

On the nose, the wine opens with notes of juicy black fruit, blackberry and plum. This is followed by scents of maquis herbs, typical of inland Corsica, and a hint of black pepper, the hallmark of Syrah. A slightly smoky note recalls the discreet but well-controlled ageing.

The palate is supple on the attack, then gains in density. Black fruits are again present, supported by a soft but present tannic structure. Aromas of sweet spices and licorice add complexity. The finish is clean and persistent, with a welcome freshness that invites you to come back for more.
