Long description
A dream vineyard, exceptional winemakers who give birth to great wines. A guaranteed journey to the heart of their terroirs.
The Rhône Valley is one of the French wine regions that offers the greatest wealth of terroirs. Its vineyards stretch from south of Lyon to Avignon. The northern vineyards, known as Vallée du Rhône Septentrionale, are planted mainly on hillsides on the left and right banks of the Rhône. The southern vineyards, known as Vallée du Rhône Méridionale, offer a greater variety of landscapes. The whole of this wine-growing region boasts a wide variety of red and white grape varieties, some better known than others. These include the famous Syrah, Grenache, Cinsault and Mourvèdre , as well as indigenous varieties such as Counoise and Vaccarèse for the reds. As for white grape varieties, Marsanne, Roussanne, Viognier, Grenache blanc and Clairette dominate most of the vineyards, but there are also vines ofBourboulenc,Ugni blanc and Piquepoul blanc. The best-known appellations in the northern Rhône Valley are Côte Rôtie, Cornas, Condrieu, Saint Joseph, Hermitage and Crozes Hermitage. The best-known appellations in the southern Rhone Valley are Gigondas, Vacqueyras, Châteauneuf du Pape and Costières de Nîmes. But there are other appellations too, with many surprises in store, such as Coteaux du Vivarais, where you'll find the highly reputed domaine Gallety, Côtes du Rhône Village Roaix with domaine Pique Basse, and vins de pays d'Ardèche produced by the superb domaine Mas de Libian. The vineyards of the Rhône Valley boast a diversity of terroirs, grape varieties and winemakers that is unique in France. It's one of France's most popular wine-growing regions. Mundovin has selected the most dedicated winemakers who produce the finest wines with the purest respect for the terroir. Authentic wines with an assertive personality, born essentially from work in the vineyard, to offer you a varied, cutting-edge range. Some, such as domaine Gonon, domaine Georges Vernay and domaine Gangloff, are well known to a select circle of connoisseurs and therefore limited in quantity . Others are less sought-after, but reveal exceptional quality. They are the fruit of intense research coupled with regular tastings in the vineyards. These include Domaine Monier Perréol, which produces exceptional Saint Joseph wines, and Domaine Aléofane, which impressed us with its Crozes Hermitage. David Reynaud and his Domaine Les Bruyères on Crozes Hermitage also produce exceptional biodynamic wines.
