Long description

The Domaine des Lambrays is a wine estate with 650 years of history. It was first mentioned in 1365 in the deeds of the Abbaye de Citeaux. It's one of the most storied wine estates in Burgundy, and one that continues to improve the quality of its wines. With the 2020 vintage, they are reaching new heights, and are certainly producing the vintage of the century.

The luxury goods group LVMH, headed by Bernard Arnault, was chosen from among the candidates to acquire the estate. This world leader in champagne also owns the famous Châteaux d'Yquem and Cheval Blanc. The wine estate has gone from strength to strength, particularly over the last ten years, with time playing in favor of the quality of its wines. In 2019, LVMH appoints a new general manager in Jacques Devauges. Previously at Clos de Tart, another Morey-Saint-Denis Grand Cru, this talented oenologist promises to see the wine estate evolve.

The wine estate produces an average of 35,000 bottles a year, with wide variations depending on the vintage. For example, 15,000 bottles were produced in 2012, compared with three times that number in 1999. Today, demand is strong, and only 40% of production is shipped to France, the rest being shared by 38 countries.

The renowned Domaine des Lambrays estate owns almost all of the Clos des Lambrays Grand Cru, from which it produces exceptional wines. Although it doesn't claim to, the viticulture here is fundamentally organic, with a large part of the vineyard worked on horseback. Young vines are systematically downgraded to Morey-Saint-Denis Premier Cru Les Loups.

The wine estate favors an early harvest with strict sorting. Winemaking is generally by whole-bunch harvesting.
