Long description

The Loire vineyard, more commonly known as the Val de Loire, is one of the most extensive vineyards in France. It stretches over 1000 km and crosses 13 départements. The vineyards are located at varying altitudes, on hillsides or on plains. They all have one thing in common: they run alongside the Loire River. As a result, the soils are geologically very different. These include granite, tuffeau (limestone), schist and many others. In the Loire Valley, there are 5 wine-growing regions: Pays Nantais, Anjou-Saumur, Touraine, Centre Loire and Auvergne. Each of these regions is distinguished by a wide variety of terroirs, grape varieties and winemaking methods. White grape varieties are the most widely represented, with an annual production of 4 million hectolitres, making it France's largest white wine-producing region. The main grape varieties used are Chenin, Sauvignon (blanc and gris), Melon de Bourgogne and Chardonnay. The best-known native grape is Romorantin , which is very present in the Chevernyappellation . As for red grape varieties, there are many to choose from. The most widely planted are Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir and Gamay. But it's not uncommon to also find Grolleau, Côt (the name given to Malbec in this region), Négrette and Pineau d'Aunis. At Mundovin, you'll find a multitude of wines from this region. In particular, we list great red wines from appellations you're probably familiar with. In Saumur Champigny, we list wines from Domaine Antoine Sanzay and Domaine des Roches Neuves. We also offer Bourgueil wines from domaine de la Butte and Saint Nicolas de Bourgueilfrom domaine Amirault. White wines also make up the majority of our wines from this region. The white wines of Anjou are particularly remarkable, as illustrated by the achievements of domaine Thibaud Boudignon. The Sancerre wines of Vincent Pinard represent for us the quintessence of this appellation, whether in white or red. And how could we forget the wines of Domaine de la Taille aux Loups, which has truly restored the Montlouis sur Loire appellation to its former glory , with some of the finest chenins in the world. And we mustn't forget the winemakers of lesser-known appellations, such as Thierry Michon of the Saint Nicolas wine estate, who produces incredible Fiefs Vendéens - truly great wines. Or the Muscadet wines of Jérôme Bretaudeaufrom domaine de Bellevue. Fresh, pure, limpid wines vinified without sulfur. In short, this region of the Loire Valley is full of wine nuggets to discover. Whether as a gift for your loved ones or as a treat for yourself, don't hesitate to be surprised by the wines of this magnificent wine region.
