Domaine Luneau-Papin 's Folle Blanche cuvée gives a different voice to this rare and ancient grape variety, also known as Gros Plant du Pays Nantais, typical of the Loire Valley. For this wine, the Folle Blanche vines planted in 1974 on the La Richardière parcel flourish on light soils of sand and gravel on schist, which favor the variety's lively, mineral expression. Domaine Luneau Papin practices organic viticulture and biodynamics throughout the estate, to stimulate soil life and vine vigor. Winemaking is carried out by spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts, then the wine is aged for six months in barrels of several wines, without racking before bottling. This choice is designed to preserve the freshness and purity of the Folle Blanche grape variety, which delivers a lovely gourmet wine.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Domaine Luneau-Papin 's Folle Blanche overturns preconceived ideas about Gros Plant du Pays Nantais, offering a fresh, balanced take on this Loire Valley icon. Its fine, perfectly integrated acidity and aromatic clarity make it ideal for drinking now and over the coming years.
On the nose, the wine delivers a precise palette of fresh citrus and white flowers, where pink grapefruit flesh and lime zest are pleasantly enhanced by the sweetness of acacia.
On the palate, fine acidity energizes the ripe material, offering a lively structure and perfect balance. The ripeness of the citrus fruit evolves with perfectly integrated tension, leading to a persistent finish of freshness and salinity. A lovely gourmet wine from Domaine Luneau Papin!
