Wine Description

Cuvée Excelsior from the Luneau Papin wine estate is an exceptional cuvée, now classified as a Cru Communal Goulaine, which distinguishes the most qualitative and geologically complex terroirs. The Luneau Papin family has owned and cultivated this superb parcel, named "Les Noëlles", since 1936. It benefits from a unique south-facing terroir where micaschist bedrock is present in large quantities. This veritable jewel, the result of massal selection, is the object of the greatest attention, to the delight of lovers of great white wines for laying down.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Excelsior is the great Muscadet cuvée from the Luneau Papin wine estate. It was aged for 29 months on fine lees in small vats in the wine estate's underground cellars. This is undoubtedly one of the finest cuvées of Muscadet currently available.

On the nose, the wine surprises with its very exotic notes, due in particular to its excellent ripeness. Notes of pineapple, quince, peach, mirabelle plum and candied lemon. Mineral notes come in second, stimulating olfactory perception.

The palate is superbly fleshy, almost creamy, and always accompanied by the beautiful tension we love in great Muscadets. The wine reveals itself to be highly complex, with outstandingaromatic persistence .
