Wine Description

Domaine Philippe Alliet 's Chinon Tradition is the first cuvée produced by the estate, designed to reflect all the freshness and spontaneity of Cabernet Franc on the hillsides of Chinon. Produced from a blend of several south-facing plots planted on sand and gravel soils, this wine favors freshness and immediate aromas, without seeking the power of deeper terroirs. Quickly accessible after a short cellaring period, it illustrates the fruity generosity and slight rusticity that make young Chinon so charming. The vineyard benefits from a balanced soil, where the old vines express themselves freely, without excessive inputs, revealing a Cabernet Franc of simple elegance and charming rusticity.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Chinon Tradition perfectly embodies Philippe Alliet's authentic philosophy. This cuvée captures the purity of the Chinon terroir, and the sincerity of the winemaker: a crisp, low-tannin Cabernet Franc, with that slight rusticity that gives it its unique character. Decanting for two to three hours is highly recommended to allow the wine's aromatic palette to blossom and dissipate any notes of reduction.

Once properly oxygenated, the wine reveals juicy notes of warm black cherry. Floral touches of wild violets and lavender add fresh originality to the background.

On the palate, the wine is silky and smooth, revealing a just-ripe harvest. The tannins are supple and well-integrated, and the right amount of acidity weaves an effective fabric, carrying a delicious aroma of stewed black fruit. A pure, touching representation of the Chinon terroir.
