The cuvée Insolite from the Roches Neuves wine estate is a saumur made from a blend of chenins from the les Cerpes and Saint Vincent vineyards. It has a very gourmet profile, combining freshness and power. Thierry Germain has always wanted to produce whites of great finesse and spontaneous pleasure. He can congratulate himself on having succeeded with this cuvée Insolite. The terroir is essentially composed of tuffeau, a clay-limestone soil found only in the Loire Valley. This is what gives the wine its authenticity, its unique saline and mineral character.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: The Saumur appellation is currently on the rise, both in terms of wine quality and diversity. With the cuvée Insolite, Thierry Germain invites us to discover one of the many facets of his terroirs. This chenin makes its terroir its own, producing wines with flesh, straightforward acidity and, above all, gourmandise. A fine definition of what we look for in a Saumur.

The nose is subtly fruity, with notes of grapefruit, lemon and verbena. One senses that the grapes have been harvested at just the right ripeness, and there is no sensation of alcohol. Floral notes appear after oxygenation in the glass, a superb approach to Chenin.

On the palate, the attack is straightforward, the substance intense, with a fine acidity that gives the wine its structure. The aromatic expression reflects the nose, energetic and greedy. Quite simply, a wine for pleasure.
