Wine Description

Saumur Champigny Terres Chaudes is a sublime Cabernet Franc located in the Les Poyeux appellation. A well-known appellation, it is considered one of the most beautiful vineyards in the whole of Saumur Champigny. The two wine estates that have made this area famous are Clos Rougeard and Antoine Sanzay. Thierry Germain, for his part, has chosen not to stipulate a specific terroir but rather to express the feeling of the terroir by naming it Terres Chaudes. The average age of the vines is 45 years. They are located on a chalky, sandy-clay soil, which is quite rare in the area. This rich terroir produces wines of astonishing depth and complexity.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at mundovin: Thierry Germain has succeeded in producing one of the finest Saumur Champigny thanks to his rigorous work ethic and the uniqueness of his terroir. He touches the finest cuvées from other wine estates at his fingertips. The work of successive sorting and infusion produces superb results over time. In fact, it's ideal to let this wine age for at least 10 years after bottling. This is when it will express all the beauty of its terroir.

The nose is at once spicy, floral and fruity, andwildly complex. The notes of pepper, clove, peony, violet, iris, blackcurrant and so on are ofrare precision. A superb introduction.

The palate is all the more beautiful, the substance is there, the mouth is full, the tannins silky. Notes of blueberry, blackberry and prune develop first, then, with a little time, the spicy and floral notes. This is a magnificent Saumur Champigny not to be missed.
