Domaine Pique-Basse 's Côtes du Rhône La Brusquembille is one of the most accessible and lively cuvées in the range, offering an ideal gateway to the richness of the Rhône Valley. The vines are planted in Roaix, on the sandy-clay alluvial terraces of the lieu-dit Piquebas, from which the wine estate takes its name. The climate typical of theCôtes du Rhône appellation is particularly favorable to Syrah (70%) and Carignan (30%), two racy grape varieties that tell the story of the Southern Rhône with sincerity. The vines are farmed organically and biodynamically, the grapes are harvested by hand, and the winemaking is simple and respectful. Indigenous yeasts from the terroir, no superfluous inputs, maceration of blended grape varieties, discreet ageing in stainless steel vats: everything is designed to ensure that the cuvée reflects the nature of the soil and the vintage.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Domaine Pique-Basse 's Côtes du Rhône La Brusquembille is an immediately seductive cuvée, as fruity as it is complex, and perfectly embodies the convivial, authentic spirit of the southern Rhône Valley. Its potential to evolve over five years makes it an ideal companion for an accessible cellar, while offering immediate pleasure.
The nose opens with an intensity of ripe black fruit enhanced by sweet spices, including nutmeg and black pepper. A subtle hint of star anise is a pleasant surprise, adding to this pleasant ensemble.
On the palate, the wine is rich and supple, carried by round tannins that give it a caressing texture. We find the greediness of bright black fruits, a delicate note of star anise and peppery accents underlining the structure. Well-controlled acidity ensures balanced freshness, making this wine easy to digest and drink. The finely spiced finish unfolds an elegant mineral salinity, inviting you to prolong the moment.
