Wine Description

La Calade du Domaine Mas de Libian is a cuvée composed mainly of Mourvèdre completed with a suspicion of Grenache. This wine evokes the name of a path that climbs in Provencal dialect. Its terroir is composed of rolled pebbles with great Mediterranean influence so a dry and hot summer but very windy. The vine is grown in biodynamics like the entire Mas de Libian estate. Hélène Thibon, the winemaker has chosen to make small yields in order to preserve the quality of her grapes.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : The Mas de Libian estate is one of the most respected in Ardèche. Hélène Thibon produces authentic, powerful, rustic wines that need time to flourish. Livestock half muids of Stockinger and Jars in order to obtain microoxygenation wine and also to relax the harsh tannins of Mourvèdre. It is a wine that will marry perfectly in accompaniment to forest products like the Cepe.

The wine develops an extraordinarily complex, powerful and bloody nose. The morvèdre is in its pure, natural state, without concessions. There are notes of musk, spices, black berries, chocolate.

In the palate, the wine is enveloping, the tannins well present, supple and gourmet. The hint of hardiness brings character to the wine. The notes of ripe fruit, ash, smoky and a mint tip are perfectly revealed when opened. A magnificent wine from Ardèche which I invite to have a blind taste.
