Domaine Desvignes' Morgon Javernières is an emblematic cuvée of the Morgon cru, expressing with finesse and depth the richness of the southern and eastern foothills of the Py hill. The Javernières cuvée comes from 2 hectares of 40-year-old vines rooted in deep, iron-oxide-impregnated clay soils at the foot of the Py hill. Facing due east, these plots benefit from optimal sunshine, which favors even ripening of the grapes. Cultivation practices are exemplary: the soil is ploughed without the use of herbicides, and the vines are worked by hand, respecting the microbial life of the soil.
Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Since 2005, the wine estate has adopted organic practices and has been certified organic since the 2021 vintage. The grapes are harvested by hand, guaranteeing careful selection of fully ripe bunches. Traditional whole-cluster winemaking, with 20% destemming, preserves the authentic expression of fruit and terroir. Controlled vatting, followed by 9 months' ageing in cement vats, preserves the wine's aromatic purity and harmonious structure.
The elegant nose opens with floral aromas of violet and peony, followed by greedy notes of blackberry, blackcurrant and plum. Subtle nuances of sweet spices and undergrowth enrich this complex bouquet.
On the palate, the attack is soft and velvety, offering a delicate, silky touch. The generous fruitiness, driven by flavors of black berries and cherry, is supported by a fine, persistent tannic structure. The precise texture is complemented by a mineral freshness typical of the clay soils of the Py hillside. The long, balanced finish leaves an impression of fullness and pure indulgence.
