Magnum Roc de Cambes 2019 François Mitjavile - Magnum Côtes de Bourg | Bordeaux

The Roc de Cambes cuvée comes from Château Roc de Cambes, considered the finest of all Côtes de Bourg wines. In fact, it was this wine that put the appellation on the map. Thanks are due to the Mitjavile family, and in particular to winemaker François Mitjavile. He showed a certain audacity in going against the grain of the entire wine industry. Today, he is without doubt the most talked-about winemaker in Bordeaux. He represents both a personal success story and a role model for the Côte de Bourg appellation. A rare wine not to be missed.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Roc de Cambes is rightly considered by leading tasters to be one of the best Bordeaux wines. It stands out for its finesse and the incredible complexity of its aromas. The grape varieties are fairly classic, with 80% Merlot and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon, complemented by a touch of Malbec (5%). The magic of this wine lies in the precision of its work, both in the vines and during ageing.

The nose is dark, with notes of Morello cherry, crème de cassis, a touch of sweet spice and coffee. The wood is of great nobility, certainly the noblest in Bordeaux.

The palate is powerful, racy and beautifully structured. The tannins are already silky, thanks to 3 years of ageing by the Mitjavile family.
