Wine Description

De Montille' s Vosne Romanée 1er cru Les Malconsorts is one ofEtienne de Montille's proudest achievements. The domaine operates a fantastic parcel of land classified as one of the most prestigious in Burgundy, located in the southern extension of the famous grand cru La Tâche, a monopoly of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. The vines benefit from a soil type and exposure very similar to that of its illustrious neighbor. The terroir is composed of very deep brown limestone and clay, giving the wine unrivalled generosity and depth.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin : Vosne Romanée 1er cru Les Malconsorts is Vosne Romanée's mythical climat , and personally my favorite. I think this wine has it all - personality, depth, authenticity and complexity- what more could you ask for! It's one of those wines that reveals the most refined and accomplished expression of Burgundian pinot noir. It's a grand 1er cru, on a par with the Grands Crus.

On the nose, the wine opens with a magnificent bouquet of very ripe red cherry, redcurrant confit and refined notes of rose petals. The whole is deep, enhanced by hints of nutmeg and undergrowth. The ageing still makes itself felt, but is perfectly mastered.

The palate is racy, with an intense velvety texture. The complexity of the nose is repeated on the palate, as is the liveliness that makes this wine radiant. A splendid expression of terroir that richly deserves its place.
