Wine Description

Grand Cru Vaudésir is always more delicate and finer than its brothers, such as Les Clos or Blanchot. It is distinguished by its subtle, more supple, gourmand character. The minerality expresses itself more when aged than when young, making it the most accessible grand cru. It remains one of the finest achievements of the Jean Paul et Benoit Droin wine estate today, a wine of great elegance in both acidity and aroma.

Philippe Mischler, sommelier at Mundovin: Grand Cru Vaudésir is a grand cru in a class of its own, thanks to its double amphitheater-like north/south exposure. This gives it a very interesting balance. But it is also distinguished from the others by its very slender, airy style, with a less assertive minerality than other Chablis. A slightly atypical Chablis Grand Cru that will appeal to lovers of subtle, delicate wines.

On the nose, this wine opens up very easily when young, which is one of its strong points. It develops notes of hazelnuts and roasted almonds, with a touch of wood that will mellow over time. A chalky side and a touch of flint add finesse and a classy nose.

The palate is pure and delicate. Notes of dried fruit intermingle with hints of roasted apple. The toasted aspect gradually reveals itself during tasting, adding a very pleasant gourmet touch. The palate finishes with a slightly saline touch and a hint of butter, but with the same finesse as the wine.
